A Wing and a Prayer

Walks through deep countryside reveal the whispered storytelling of the natural world and the existence of its inhabitants.  One day I found a scattering of blue-black feathers next to a hole in an ancient hedgerow. 

The ink painting is in e-sumi style, the bleeding pools of colour and vigorous flicks of pigment recreate the glossy, reflective nature of the feathers.  Cutting and collaging to re-assemble the wing and new life is the transformative gift of the artist and author.

The human scale is deliberately intimate.
